Last week I reported that former Obama Undersecretary of State Richard Stengel was a little bothered that President Trump was taking credit for strong 2nd quarter GDP estimates and chose to give credit to Obama.

This is in response to Friday’s release of the 2nd Quarter estimates that highlighted 4.1% growth: “Real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 4.1 percent in the second quarter of 2018 (table 1), according to the ‘advance’ estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 2.2 percent (revised). The Bureau emphasized that the second-quarter advance estimate released today is based on source data that are incomplete or subject to further revision by the source agency (see ‘Source Data for the Advance Estimate/ on page 2). The ‘second’ estimate for the second quarter, based on more complete data, will be released on August 29, 2018.”
Now MSNBC Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough is piling on.
We would expect nothing less.
In comments that opened Monday’s show, Scarborough stated:
Things are going well out there. This isn’t the greatest economy ever. This isn’t close to being the greatest economy ever. Barack Obama had more people getting jobs his last 16 or 18 months than had jobs Donald Trump’s first 16 or 18 months. Again, it’s not to say the economy is not doing well, it is, but all of these claims, and I’m not even talking to Trump supporters now, I’m talking to news reporters.

We’re in a pretty extraordinary 6 or 7 year recovery right now and that’s a recovery we can all be grateful for, and you know what? That’s something that we republicans, now a conservative, that’s something that we conservatives have always given credit where credit is due.

Yeah, it’s a strong economy but Mika this is not an economy that Donald Trump gave us. This is an economy that’s part of a 7-year ongoing recovery.
Scarborough calls himself a conservative?
Really?
Detractors can say what they will about who gets credit for the recent economic turnaround, but there is one fact that they can not deny.
Barack Obama is the ONLY president in history to NEVER have a single year of 3% GDP growth.
Is Trump taking credit for an economic recovery that President Obama started?
