Louisiana Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Natchitoches Police Department arrested Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith, 25. She has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Levi Cole Ellerbe. Ellerbe had been set on fire and was discovered off of Breda Avenue in Natchitoches.

Smith was booked into Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on Saturday.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators said last week Levi’s mother told them two unknown men came to her trailer and began beating on the door. She told police she was sprayed in the face with a substance she believed to be mace. She ran to get away from her attackers then circled back to find her son missing.

Officers began immediately searching the area and called in additional officers from the Natchitoches Police Department, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s 0ffice, Louisiana State Police and Northwestern State University Police Department. Natchitoches Fire Department was called to the scene to check the mother out.

No description of the men was ever released.

A funeral service was held Friday for Levi in Winnfield. His obituary describes him as the “happiest baby who always had a big smile. He spent his time playing with siblings and cousins especially outdoors, watching PJ Masks and video gaming with Uncle J. He was an animal lover and anytime he could get his hands on his dog, Rex, he loved to pull his ears. Levi was a blessing to our family and everyone who met him. We will always remember him as our little ‘Chunky Monkey.’”

He is survived by his parents, Billy Dean Ellerbe Jr. and Hanna Nicole Barker; siblings, Brookelaine, Elizabeth and Nevaeh; grandparents, Kristy Roberts and Billy and Kathy Ellerbe; great-grandparents, Carl and Rosie Scott, Irma Ellerbe, Norman and Dianne Roberts, Susan Straughan, and Cammie Roberts; aunts and uncles, Shelby Fugler, Jax Barker, Tiffanie Viola, Carolyn and Bryant Hines, Penny and Brian Waggoner, Tammy and Mason Hagan, Brittany and Troy Whittington; and a host of other relatives.
