A suspected Gulf Cartel member was allegedly spotted in Mexico near the Texas border carrying a rocket launcher similar to those supplied by the West to Ukraine.

A video posted on social networks shows a person carrying a military-grade grenade launcher during a checkpoint in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The weapon, which is only sold to armies and has been widely used during the invasion of Ukraine, was in the hands of a hitman from Los Escorpiones, a cell of the Gulf cartel, which operates in Reynosa.

These are weapons that cost between $20,000 and $60,000 on the black market, with shots that can cost approximately $30,000 per ammunition and require specialized training to operate.

The armed civilian who boasts an embroidered emblem of Los Escorpiones, in addition to carrying the missile launcher, has an AK47 rifle and wears a tactical vest.

ZeroHedge reports that the weapon appears to be an AT-4, “a Swedish-made disposable anti-tank launcher, which was also sent to Ukraine with Javelins.”

In March 2022, the US pledged to send 6,000 of their own AT4s to Ukraine.

“Matamoros directly borders Brownsville, Texas,” ZeroHedge added.

Seymour Hersh reported in April that “Western-supplied weapons to Kiev were actually ‘flooding’ the military black market in countries like Romania and Poland,” InfoBrics noted.

“Poland, Romania, other countries on the border were being flooded with weapons we [the US and allies] were shipping for the war to Ukraine […] Often, it wasn’t generals, it was colonels and others, who were given shipments of some weapons, [who] would personally resell them […] to the dark market,” Hersh said.

Hersh highlighted a CBS News documentary titled “Arming Ukraine” which was released last year (and swiftly pulled) which reported that only 30% at most of the tens of billions of dollars worth of US weapons aid sent to Ukraine is making it to the front lines.
