What is Facebook Helping China Hide?

What is Facebook Helping China Hide?

As real journalists connect the dots, Zuckerberg’s Politifact muddies the water.

Zero Hedge, a blog with a track record of publishing false information, said in a Jan. 26 story that the coronavirus is part of a Chinese plot to develop a bioweapon. The article was republished from a website called Great Game India.

Texas University Caught Using Robocall Scammers To Conduct Bogus Red Flag Poll

WAIT a minute! Perhaps we should begin by turning this around and looking at who REALLY needs Fact-checking! Here are just a FEW of the times Politifact was recently caught blatantly lying:

  1. PolitiFact And Snopes Caught Lying About Democrats Seated During Navy SEAL Tribute
  2. Disgraced fact check site PolitiFact was caught lying Monday with a dishonest fact check about President Trump and Democrat Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.
  3. The serial liars at PolitiFact have again been caught red-handed lying, this time about a poll cited by Donald Trump in his call to temporarily pause Muslim immigration.

New evidence: Coronavirus “bioweapon” might have been a Chinese vaccine experiment gone wrong… genes contain “pShuttle-SN” sequences, proving laboratory origin

With that taken care of let’s look at this latest attempt by Politifact to control the narrative for their Chi Com buddies.

Here is where it starts:

Websites spin unproven link between Canada, China about coronavirus outbreak. A widely shared article on social media inaccurately claims Canada is the source of the 2019 coronavirus outbreak in China.

(Hint: If you don’t KNOW there isn’t a link you can’t use terms like “inaccurately claims.”)

The coronavirus pandemic is exposing the fatal cost of China’s lies, corruption and communist structure that despises transparency and truth

More drivel from Funke:

“Last year a mysterious shipment was caught smuggling Coronavirus from Canada. It was traced to Chinese agents working at a Canadian lab,” the story reads. “Subsequent investigation by GreatGameIndia linked the agents to Chinese Biological Warfare Program from where the virus is suspected to have leaked causing the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak.”

The story weaves together unrelated facts to construct a conspiracy theory. Officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of the outbreak, but there’s no evidence of it being created for use as a bioweapon.

I call this defense “not a shred of evidence.” How does this online super sleuth and debunker extraordinaire, Daniel Funke know these facts are unrelated? And, if he had even the tiniest shred of journalistic skill or integrity, he might not be jumping so quickly to these conclusions. Pretty much everyone on the planet knows that the ChiComs hide everything they can (remember they were caught lying early on about the extent of the outbreak), and lie about the rest.

What is little Danny Funke’s motivation for trying to throw shade on this issue so quickly? Oh, look!

The article was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

Then Funke throws out this nugget:

Great Game India claims that the current coronavirus outbreak can be traced to Chinese agents who infiltrated a Canadian lab to steal virus samples. But there’s no evidence for that.

 Then writes this:

One of the scientists mentioned in the Great Game India story, Xiangguo Qiu, is under investigation for a possible “policy breach” after she was invited to the Wuhan lab twice a year for two years (By the Chi Coms). Qiu, her husband and her students from China were removed from the lab in July 2019.

There are questions about what information Qiu shared with Chinese officials while visiting Wuhan, and the Canadian National Microbiology Laboratory has sent viruses to China in the past for research. But there is no evidence to support the claim that Qiu stole coronavirus samples and gave them to the Wuhan lab to create biological weapons.

This goes on throughout the article. I’ll let you wade through the rest of it here. I guess if you make a living as a debunker for a company known for deceiving the public, you’d better find something to debunk, even if the truth is staring you in the face.

Zero Hedge has a bullseye on their back. They must be doing something right!
